The Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker is a device that combines two of my favorite things, kitchen practicality and pizza. This really is the device my kitchen has needed for so long.
Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker design
The first thing that really stands out about the Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker is the terracotta dome which gives it a vintage appearance as well as allowing it to give the bases a more crispy taste, similar to what you would find in an upmarket pizza restaurant. Of course, this does mean the exterior gets very warm, so it’s important to bear that in mind. Around the dome are four holes, each of these holes is used to place a pizza in the maker and remove it when done.
The overall shape of the pizza maker is round and is split into three main pieces. The base that holds the electricals and the two-level heating element, a removable pizza tray to cook the pizzas on and the terracotta dome that is finished with a brick effect. The trip is easy to remove for cleaning and is to put back in place, while the dome simply lifts off, with the handle to ensure you don’t burn yourself.
Included with the Global Gourmet pizza maker are four pizza spatulas which can be slid into the four holes on the dome and used to cook the pizza on, or alternatively, you can just cook them directly on the base tray for even better results. Also present is a circular shaped pizza dough cutter that does a fantastic job of cutting both through soft dough and pre-cooked dough.
The only thing I don’t like about the design of this is that it only big enough to make small pizzas, so, unfortunately, there’s no way to cook large pizzas in this. Not a big problem as it’s clearly listed as a tabletop pizza maker.
Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker in action
I have used the Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker a few times now and each time it has been fantastic. I haven’t used with my own homemade dough yet, but have used it with store-bought pre-cooked bases and the results were brilliant. If you do want to make your own dough, the included instruction booklet has a section with dough making instructions as well as various different topping ideas.
The whole process was really fun, starting from the spreading of the tomato sauce right through to the pizza’s cooking in the oven. I tried so many different toppings for me and my family on the first attempt and each one came out delicious. The bases were lovely and crispy and the toppings were just right, while the cheese had a lovely melted consistency. All of these cooked fully within 7 to 10 minutes, which is about the typical pizza cooking time from fresh. Do expect the process to take longer overall if you make your own dough, as that will need to be left to rise for about an hour before hand.
The Global Gourmet electric tabletop pizza maker is what has been missing from my life and my kitchen for so long. It looks gorgeous thanks to the terracotta dome and it makes delicious crispy homemade pizzas in about 10 minutes. Seriously what’s not to love?
